Shatrudhan K. Gupta is an Indian multidisciplinary artist working within the nation and roots, expanding into the international arena as well. He is the recipient of the prestigious international art award, the Jackson Pollock Award from the esteemed Pollock Krasner Foundation, New York, USA.

He did his Bachelor of Fine Arts & Master of Visual Arts from the College of Arts and Crafts, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lucknow, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. He completed a two-year Senior Scholar Research Program at the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou, Zhejiang, China. He is a doctoral research scholar (PhD in Fine Arts) at the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, Shanghai University, Shanghai, China.

With a mastery in diverse mediums, including paintings, drawings, ceramics, installation, video, and mixed media, and fine expressions through colors, forms, drawings, textures, and space division. He enjoys every bit and piece of work, and a great assimilation of mastery and innovation can be witnessed in his works through his continuous research and implementations. Being novel in the creation is a vital piece of his work. Besides being an artist, he is an affirmed believer in the values of emotion and empathy, acting as a driver in creative processes by not only opening doors for budding thoughts but also in the absorption of new elements.

Shatrudhan’s work has always been an emblem of experimentation, a journey from the ordinary to the extraordinary. His vision is always at the pinnacle of his works, where interconnection plays a key role; working through different themes is an art, but connections within them are a mark of culture. Each piece of work that he creates symbolically presents where he comes from and where he is living presently. The Line & Space series works are a perfect example of his investigative and anxious nature. His contributions to diverse societies, atmospheres, and circumstances, as well as his personal experiences, make him a man of art.

He has held 12 solo exhibitions in major cities in China and India, and he has been a major part of numerous significant art biennales, including the 5th & 8th Beijing International Art Biennale, and participated in the International Symposium of the 8th Beijing International Art Biennale, Beijing, China. His works have been actively participated in and exhibited in India and abroad, including London, UK, Seoul, South Korea, and China, among others.

He has been invited as an artist-in-residence by prestigious art museums and art institutions in China, including the Ningbo Museum of Art in Ningbo, the Dimensions Art Centre in Chongqing, the Shangyuan Art Museum in Beijing, and the Woodwork Workshop in Xiamen.

Shatrudhan’s works are in the permanent collection at several significant and reputed museums and art organizations such as the National Art Museum of China (Beijing), Xian Art Museum (Xian, China), Ningbo Museum of Art (Ningbo, China), Dafen Art Museum (Shenzhen, China), Lalit Kala Akademi (New Delhi), State Lalit Kala Academy (Lucknow), Karnataka Lalit Kala Akademy (Bengaluru), South Central Zone Cultural Centre (Nagpur, India) as well as several private collections nationally and internationally.

He has received numerous significant art awards and scholarships including, the Best Exhibits Award by All India Fine Arts & Crafts Society (AIFACS), New Delhi; All India Merit Grant & Central Zone Lucknow City Award by Prafulla Dahanukar Art Foundation (PDAF), Mumbai; 1st Award in Painting category by South Central Zone Cultural Centre (SCZCC), Nagpur, India; Shanghai & Chinese Government Scholarship; SLKA Scholarship by State Lalit Kala Academy, Lucknow; Research Grant of Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, and many more.

He was a subject expert (lecturer) at the College of Arts and Crafts, Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Lucknow, Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, India. He also works as an independent curator and coordinator. He actively engages in studio art practice, gives lectures, and publishes research papers in the high-index journal around the world.
